My First Yoga Experience

Status: 26w6d

I have lots to update, but will have to save it for another day because I don't have a lot of time (a few pictures, too!). I just wanted to pop in and talk about a prenatal yoga class I went to last night.

Although this is my third baby, this is the first time I have ever taken a prenatal exercise class. Come to think of it, this is the first time I think I've EVER taken an exercise class. I didn't really know what to expect, but it was a really good experience. I went to a yoga studio that is pretty well recommended, and pretty popular (especially for pregnancy) - Pierce Yoga. I had looked at the studio during my second pregnancy, but just didn't think I had the time to do something like that. Something I have learned since is the importance of taking care of yourself - mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically (especially during pregnancy).

Anyway, last night I went to my first class. Before the class I had to fill out a form and spent a few minutes talking with the instructor about my births, my pregnancy, and any physical limitations I might have. Then we got right to work. We started with laying on the floor and doing different things, then moved to cat poses, then did some standing and light lunging poses. I don't know any technical terms except for cat and downward dog. We did those, that's about the extent of my ability to explain what we did. It was nice to not feel completely out of shape, and I could definitely feel the stretching so that was awesome!

After we did all the actual yoga, there was tea and the instructor shared a birth story and answered that the other women had. It was very strange for me to be among first time moms and not my usual ICAN of Atlanta and other birthy crowds. It was interesting to see how far I've come since I was in their shoes three years ago.

I signed up for 5 weeks of classes, so I will definitely be going back (I liked it, so I would go back anyway), and I may even try to drop in to some extra classes if my schedule permits. My rating? B+

It's the little things...

Sitting here watching TV with the remote balanced on my belly.......and watching Bucky kicking at it, seeing my belly jump and the remote move.

Growing miracles is nothing short of amazing- EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.  Never gets old!

Nothing much to say....

Status: 23 weeks, 2 days

I have nothing terribly interesting to say this week. Eli has become increasingly fond of lifting up my shirt and kissing my belly (although the full panel coverage confuses him). I have been working on crocheting a hat for Bucky. I finished it  (my first project where I followed directions - I'm such a rebel) and Eli promptly announced he wanted one, too. I thought it would be cute for the boys to have matching hats, but it didn't scale right so I will give that one to Talia and work on making one big enough for Eli. All three of them will match - SO CUTE! I will post pictures when I'm done.

Here is an updated picture for your viewing pleasure.....

A pain in the butt...

Status: 22 weeks

This last week I have had issues with my sacroiliac joint. It won't stay in place, and it seems that just a couple hours on my feet at work will set it off. Obviously, turning too quickly or moving just the right way does it, too.  I've been to the chiropractor 3 times in eight days to have it put back!

Other than that, not too much else going on. Here's today's pic (after returning from the JCC pool):

Patience is a virtue

Status: 21w2d

Patience is a virtue that I try REALLY hard to be good at, but I'm just not. So as much as we were planning to stay on Team Green through the rest of this pregnancy I couldn't take the anticipation and, and I caved yesterday.

As promised, we are announcing it with the hat (just not in the way I imagined)....

BLUE!!!!

Our anatomy scan went really well. He (that's fun to say!) is measuring 75% at approx 1lb. He is perfect in every way and slept right through the whole thing all curled up on his little pillow (aka placenta). He is vertex (head down) and completely anterior. Although I doubt it, I am hoping he will stay just as he is. I'm suspecting his position is why I actually look bigger than I ever have before. Here is my pic from Thursday:

Also, we had our 20 week midwife appointment on Monday. It was good. Bucky hated the doppler and swam away and kicked/pushed at it, but Brenda caught him and he had a beautiful heartbeat at 148. My blood pressure is still great, too!

It's been a busy week, but lots of great things happening!

Happy Mother's Day!

Status: 20w3d

Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and people who have moms, or had moms, or want to be moms, or know a mom....you get the idea! Bucky enjoyed all the Mother's Day and birthday festivities at our house and was super active today when I got to lay around for a couple hours after everyone left. Another reminder of the miracle of being a mom!
